Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu Swears in of the Chief Judge of Niger State [Photos]

The Chief Servant and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has sworn-in Justice Fati Lami Abubakar (wife of former military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar) as the substantive Chief Judge of the state.


Speaking at the occasion, held at Government House, Minna, Governor Aliyu charged the Chief Judge to transform the judiciary to an enviable height and contribute generally to the overall development of the state and country at large.


Governor Aliyu also charged her to assist the state government’s effort at getting rid of harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation and circumcision and other cultural divinations that were contributing to the society’s backwardness in development.

He urged the Chief Judge to not only ensure quick dispensation of justice but to ensure that the judiciary truly serve as the last hope of the common man adding that no society progresses if majority of its populace were not getting fair justice.

Governor Aliyu described the Chief Judge as a pride not only to her immediate family, Niger State and Nigeria, but indeed to the whole of humanity. He expressed optimism, considering her pedigree that Justice Fati Lami Abubakar would succeed in her new assignment.


Highlight of the occasion was the administration of oath of office and allegiance which was presided by the State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.
