If Madrid's official website is to be believed, then Bale is on his way to the Bernabeu, and he'll be squad number 11. The official Real Madrid online store was listing Gareth Bale shirts as being on sale.
Clicking on the 'shop by player' option on Real Madrid's website on Thursday listed the names of players you can get printed on the back of your replica shirt.
Underneath the top player, Ozil, number 10, was a certain Welsh wonder by the name of Gareth Bale.
But if you tried to click on the link to buy a Bale shirt on Thursday, the Real Madrid website failed to load a page. The website appearing to run slowly after eagle-eyed Real Madrid fans spotted the mistake on the site.
Eventually, when visitors tried to visit the website, a message appeared saying it had been taken down for maintenance. When the website came back online, Gareth Bale's name was nowhere to be seen. It had mysteriously vanished from the site.
A check of Tottenham's website on Thursday evening revealed that the club were still selling shirts with Gareth Bale's name printed on the back, and still even featured Bale's image heavily across their online store.
