Nigerian Army Officer Sentenced to Seven-Years Imprisonment for Fraud

Thisday Live: The General Court Martial (GCM) of the Nigerian Army Tusday sentenced a former Aide-de-Camp to the former National Security Adviser (NSA), General Andrew Azazi, Lieutenant Colonel RA Ahangba to seven years imprisonment for fraudulently obtaining the sum of N150 million from the Bayelsa State Government in 2011.

Ahangba was convicted on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining under false pretence and conduct of prejudice to service discipline.

The court martial sat at the Nigerian Army Auditorium, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The officer was initially charged on a four-count charge bordering on conduct of prejudice of service duty, obtaining money under false pretence, disobedience to standing order and conduct of prejudice to service discipline.
