The Maternal, New-born and Child Healthcare Week begins from Monday, June 16, 2014 to Friday, June 20, 2014.
The exercise would last for five days. As usual, children between the ages of 0-59 months and pregnant women would benefit from all the available healthcare interventions. The interventions include; De-worming for children of 12 to 59 months, Vitamin A supplementation for children the ages of 6-59 months and screening for malnutrition.
Others are; birth registration, promotion of hand washing, and ante-natal care for pregnant women, voluntary counselling and testing of HIV/AIDS for pregnant women and distribution of nets for pregnant women that attend ante-natal care at first booking.
The exercise would be facility-based. Therefore, parents are advised to go to the nearest designated health facility to receive these interventions.
