Bomb Kills 5 in Kano Catholic Church, ANOTHER Bomb Blast Averted

Five persons (2 males, 2 females and 1 Soldier) were killed at St Charles Family Church, Zungeru Street, Kano at 1:30pm today when an IED believed to have been tossed into the church by a suspect from across the road went off.

Police spokesman Frank Mba confirming the report said eight other persons were injured in the blast and taken to hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile earlier the Nigerian Police Force through its official Facebook page said policemen on duty at North-West University, Kano at 1:00pm today 27 July averted a bomb attack on the school.

According the report the police officers spotted a suspicious young female dressed in a flowing hijab approaching the school gate which prompted them to immediately isolate her.

The explosives stripped around her body went off but only the female suicide bomber died in the incident, leaving 5 policemen with minor injuries.


UPDATE 7pm (WAT): Five Suspects Arrested in Kano Bomb Attacks:

According to Nigerian Police Force the on-going investigations into the various terror related incidents that occurred in Kano earlier today, have lead them to arrest five (5) male suspects for their complicity in the attacks.

Force Public relations officer ACP Frank Mba in a press statement said, two were arrested in connection with the foiled bomb attack at Isyaku Rabiu Mosque, while three were arrested in connection with the attack at St Charles Church, adding that all suspects were currently undergoing interrogation.

He also said intensive patrols are ongoing and advised all citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious person(s) or activities to security forces.
