Governor Aliyu Speaks Out: Says Amaechi was Duly Elected NGF Chairman
The Chairman of Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has confirmed that Rivers State Governor, Chief Rotimi Amaechi is the duly elected Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).
Governor Aliyu stated this in Bida at the turbanning ceremony of his deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto as Walin Raya Kasan Nupe and two other prominent Nigerlites by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, at his Wadata Palace.
The Governor stated that they were united and agreed to a democratic vote and voted for Amaechi contrary to speculations that the governors did not unify themselves in the election.
Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, who decided to break his silence on the matter said, if another group recognizes another person as their chairman, the issue would be resolved.
The Chairman Northern State Governors Forum was of the opinion that democracy and election was recognized to take its course and debunked the argument that some of the northern states governors betrayed one of their colleagues adding that the governors had met and produced a consensus candidate but when they realized some people wanted to have their way too take over the chairmanship of the NGF, they decided to go into election.
Governor Aliyu advised those going around aiming to destroy the reputation of other people because of their personal ambitions to bury their hatchet. He stressed the need for all the governors to reconcile so that factions would not be created by 2015 election stating that in disunity there would never be proper election, progress and development.
He declared that governors must come together so that excellent leaders would emerge for the progress of the country.
