My Involvement in G7 Struggle is to Ensure Reform in the PDP and not to Move out of the Party - Governor Aliyu
The Chief Servant and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu says his involvement in the G7 was to ensure good reform within the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), but not to move out of the party.
Governor Aliyu disclosed this when members of the State House of Assembly paid him a solidarity visit on the position he took over the recent merger of the nPDP and the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu said he would never move out from the PDP without consulting with the major stakeholders of the party in the state.
The Governor affirmed that the principal reason for the agitation of the G7 was not to cause a stare within the party but to ensure infractions within the party were redressed to increase its fortunes in the 2014 general elections.
He noted that the major issues raised by the G7 were redressed even as discussions were currently given requisite attention from the presidency.
Governor Aliyu assured that he would continue to consult with the legislature and other party stakeholders in the state adding that no decision would be taken without consulting the citizens of the state.
He explained that the struggle to emancipate the PDP from the hands of selfish people was not about his personal interest but the progress of the party, and that was why he briefed the members usually on what transpired at every meeting he attended.
Earlier, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Barrister Adamu Usman said the visit was to appreciate him for his steadfastness and wisdom in the way he was handling his involvement of the G7 struggle.
The Legislators appreciated his principles and resilience and pledged their support to him.
