Arsenal FC Signs Deal With Puma After 20 years with Nike

Premier League leader Arsenal FC has announced it is changing kit maker to Puma from Nike, after two decades with the US sportswear giant.

The deal with Puma will last for the next five years. Arsenal’s new uniform will be unveiled in July, 2014 and a full range of Puma’s new product lines will go on sale starting next year.

Puma has also acquired the rights to produce other branded Arsenal merchandise that will be sold to fans around the world.

BBC Sports reports that financial details of the five-year deal were not disclosed but it is worth more than £30m a year.

In 2012, Arsenal signed a contract renewal with airlines Emirates for shirt and stadium sponsorship worth 150 million pounds over five years.

"Arsenal represents a major commercial and marketing opportunity to reinforce Puma's credibility as a global sports brand," Mr Gulden (CEO, Puma) said in a statement.

Puma, which supplies kit to German soccer club Borussia Dortmund and national teams including Italy, said it was aiming to establish itself as the clear number-three soccer brand.
