Gov. Wada Declared Valid Candidate Of PDP In 2011 Election by Supreme Court
The Supreme Court in Nigeria on Friday declared the Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada (Rtd.), as the validly nominated candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the December 2011 governorship election in the state Channels Tv reports.
A member of the party, Mr Jibrin Echocho, had challenged Wada’s emergence as the party’s candidate, claiming that he had earlier been elected as the candidate of the PDP in an earlier primary of the party.
The justice of the Supreme Court dismissed Mr Echocho’s appeal, declaring that Governor Wada was legally nominated as the candidate of the PDP in the 2011 election.
The Kogi State Governor has described his victory as “freedom received at the highest temple of mother justice.”
A statement issued by Governor Wada’s Special Adviser, Media and Strategy, Mr Jacob Edi, says that the Kogi governor hopes that the judgement will put an end to the agitation by his opponents to put spanner in the works of his government.
