Niger State Government Awards ₦2.9bn Road Project To Link Baro Port
Niger State government has awarded a contract to an indigenous construction firm, Sojet Nigeria Limited for the construction of a 38.65km road linking Badeggi Bakeko and Katcha towns in Niger south senatorial district at a total cost of ₦2.9 billion.
The project is to be funded from the second of N12 billion Bonds already acquired by the state government as contained in the 2014 appropriation law signed into law for the year’s fiscal capital receipt.
Disclosing this to journalists at the weekend, the commissioner for works, Alhaji Muazu Bawa, represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Adamu Jagaba said that work on the project would commence next week with a duration of 12 months.
Jagaba, stated that the construction of the road was aimed at opening an alternative road to the proposed Baro port with the view of boosting economic activities from the port now under construction.
