Niger State: Popular Businessman Shoots Himself To Death in Minna
Martins Nwankwo, a Minna based businessman, on Wednesday committed suicide at his residence in Tunga, a suburb of Niger State capital, Minna, leaving behind his pregnant wife and five children.
The Niger Times gathered that the late business man who owns a fleet of electronic shops in Minna, Port Harcourt and Abuja was said to have shot himself in the stomach.
A source in his residence said that the gun sound alerted neighbours, who rushed to the residence of the deceased only to find him dead with his licensed gun by his side.
Confirming the incident, the Niger state Police Public Relations Officer, Richard Oguche, said that it was suspected that the deceased may have committed suicide, but did not leave a suicide note.
The police spokesman, however, said that investigation was still on but the preliminary findings by the police revealed that there was no sign of external attack on the house.
