Islamic Religious Group Linked With Boko Haram Discovered in Niger State
Niger State Government is to investigate the activities of an Islamic religious group, in Bida, suspected to have links with Boko Haram Sect.
Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu stated this when he received members of the State Imams’ Forum on a courtesy call at Government House, Minna.
The Governor directed the Commissioner of Religious Affairs and that of the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to investigate the activities of the group and report to government within three days.
He warned that his administration would not tolerate religious extremism or terrorism and urged people to be security conscious at all times.
Earlier, the Secretary of the Imams’ Forum, Sheikh Umar Faruk Abdullahi said the group was a threat to peace and security of the state.
