Niger State Government Extends Ban on Commercial Motorcycles to Suleja
Niger State Government has extended it ban on commercial motorcycles, popularly called Okada, to Suleja town.
According to reports on the state's government official Facebook page, Governor Aliyu announced this when he received delegation of Imams’ Forum at Government House, Minna.
The Governor said the measure became necessary following a request from the area and directed the Ministry of Transport to provide 300 Keke Talba to Suleja to ease the movement of the people.
He stated that the ban on the operation of Okada in Suleja would take effect in the next eight weeks and directed the commissioner, Alhaji Abubakar Garba Mohammed to serve them with notice to that effect.
Mean while Governor Babangida Aliyu has submitted a list of five nominees to the state House of Assembly for consideration and appointment as commissioners in the State's Executive Council.
According to Daily Times, the following names were contained in the letter as nominees, Ndayebo Danladi Mohammed from Gbako local government who is the present Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Abubakar Tukur from Shiroro, Isah Liman Kantigi who is from the Edati Local government Council, Abdulkarim Suleiman Mazakuka from Mashegu local government and Lawal Abbas Mohammed from Munya local government a former chairman of Niger State Board of Internal Revenue.
The House will go through their credentials and screen them next week for onward recommendation for their appointment.
