As the name suggests, the new S63 is the AMG version of the very latest Mercedes S-Class premium luxury saloon, a car already dubbed the very best in the world. With the full AMG treatment it’s now as fast as it is fantastic.

The new S63 is powered by AMG’s latest 5.5-litre biturbo V8 petrol engine, already seen in the likes of the CLS63 AMG and E63 AMG.
For the S-Class, this hand-built twin-turbocharged unit is in full 585hp configuration, matching the output of the immense E63 S-Model. What’s more, for the S63, AMG has liberated even more torque…
It won’t be a cheap car to buy, either. Mercedes is yet to confirm the price tag, but expect to pay well over £100,000 (approx. $153,000).
The 2013 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG will be on sale before the end of the year; we’ll have more info about exactly when (and how much) at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, where the lightening limo will get its public debut.
